Leanne White grew up in the picturesque south-western Australia. She has many fun stories from this ‘free range’ childhood in the bush. This is when her fascination for wildlife began. Then, after many adventurous years of travelling, teaching and painting throughout northern Australia, Leanne returned to the south and taught Art in schools. During this time she supplied galleries with paintings. She also began her journey into writing and illustrating children’s picture books. Inspiration was easy to find as she (with her husband, two kids, two dogs and rescued galahs named Lionel, George and Willy) lived on a bush block and spent many weekends camping and exploring the rugged south coast. Now living in the historic, forest town of Nannup, Leanne divides her creative time between painting, illustrating, writing and daydreaming about her next creative adventure. Leanne hopes that through her art and books children will grow to love the natural heritage of forest, flora and fauna. She loves to speak to audiences or workshop with children about writing or creating artworks based on nature.
